Cada vegada hi ha més consciència que s’han de restaurar els edificis, que s’han de reabilitar. A més amb criteris cada cop més científics, si ho podem dir així. A poc a poc es va fent. Es cert que, a nivell de cultura, el finançament sempre queda curt; i per tant es fa poc a poc. Per altra banda, també s’ha de dir que Barcelona es una ciutat que ja està molt edificada i ens hem de fer un plantejament a veure com volem que prosperi aquesta ciutat. Els edificis que van quedant obsolets, s’han d’enderrocar o tenen possibilitat de rehabilitació i de donar-li un nou us? Hi ha hagut una proposta fomentada per normes de protecció, justament, del valor patrimonial dels edificis que consistía, o consisteix, perquè encara està, de mantenir les façanes tal com son, les façanes històriques, modernistes o més antigues, i enderrocar tot l’interior i construir de nou amb nous material, noves condicions constructives, etcétera. Això, per una banda està be, perquè garanteix un millor comportament constructiu. Hem de pensar que, per exemple, tot l’exiample està construit amb toxo de 15 centímetres, que actualment no compleix cap normativa sísmica. Barcelona i Catalunya esta ubicada en sector sísmic. Les distribucions, els sostres alts, els paviments, let motllures, els ascensors, els arrambadors. I això jo crec que encara estém lluny de donar-li el valor que penso que hauría de tenir.
