Plaça de la Concòrdia is located in Les Corts, one of the villages that, prior to annexation in early 20th century, was a village independent from Barcelona. That annexation is discussed at length in the Catalunya Barcelona film series, specifically in episode two, La Rosa de Foc. Before it became a district of Barcelona, this plaza, or square, was the center of town. A church, Santa Maria del Remei, erected in 1846, provides a picturesque northwestern view from the square. This is a quiet plaza with an old world feeling. It boasts a few cafés, and one in particular serves some of the best anchovies in the city.
