Much of the Gràcia neighborhood was owned, originally, by jewel merchants. That’s why so many of its street are named after jewels and precious metals. Plaça del Diamant means “Diamond Plaza” in English. This square is among the ‘must-see’ squares in the Gràcia neighborhood, and, indeed, unless you arrive before 11am, it’s a tough place to find a seat, especially during high season. It boasts a prominent playground which is belied by a haunting statue set up beside it, and is bordered by a number of restaurants and bars with outdoor seating.
